Construction Supervision

Summary from Contractor

The Contractor's site construction progress for the month of February was reduced because of the Tet holidays. Delays also occurred because of shortage of LV cable and tools for MV cable terminations. The Contractor has had a major effort in the last half of February installing and terminating cable in S/S#5 and in terminating and testing MV and fibre optic cable from OCC to S/S#5. Control cable installation also began in S/S#4.

At the end of December PKIII identified to the Engineer a shortage of LV power and control cables because of deficiencies in their purchasing and scheduling. As a result cabling works between equipment inside substations had not yet started at the beginning of February. This work should have been ongoing since late November. All substation buildings had been handed over to PKIII by late December 2004, starting with availability of S/S#7 & 8 in May and S/S#5 in August 2004.

Installation of distribution boards, RTUs for PDMC, Traffic control, and Telecom panels were installed in most substations as was the fibre optic main cable patch panels.

Installation of road lighting pole foundations along the south road was substantially completed as was the erection of the 9m poles and pole top luminaires. Tunnel overhead works were limited to cable ladder crossings at EP and VAC intersections with main tunnel, installation of brackets for the support of radio rebroadcast (RRB) coaxial antenna, fire sensor cable, and CCTV camera supports. Conduit and boxes continue to be installed in VAB as PKIV work progresses.

Detailed design continued in ABB Finland on systems (Fire alarm, and radio rebroadcast (RRB).  Factory acceptance tests (FAT) were completed in early October in Finland on traffic control, lighting control, power distribution control, and main SCADA systems and on systems integration.

Overseas Training began in Finland on 21st. February and will continue in to March.
