Main Tunnel top heading and Evacuation tunnel to contract limit @ 5+500 is complete (100%) . PKIB continue excavation beyond Sta. 5+500 as subcontractor to PKIA contractor , top heading completed up to Sta. 5+019, then pilot heading to Sta. 5+016. PKIA broke through to the pilot tunnel on 28th October 2003, then completed the last blast in the top heading on 30th October. Preparation works were then carried out for the breakthrough ceremony held on Friday 7th November 2003 at the meeting point. During the reporting period 111.8m of Evacuation Tunnel and 97m of Main Tunnel Top Heading was excavated, giving a total length of 2792.7m of Evacuation Tunnel and 2878.5m of Main Tunnel Top Heading excavated to date. Bench excavation was completed to the contract limit at Sta. 5+500 then continued for PKIA. Total 164m excavated on East side and 168m excavated on West side. Tunnel lining continued with 60.3m of main tunnel, 18.6m of layby completed. Work continued on Electrostatic Precipitator No. 3, the pavement was completed and handed over to PK4 to commence their works. PKIB contractor managed to improve progress of the side drain and cable duct/trough. During October zone P was completed and handed over to PK4 contractor to commence fire main installation works. Construction Supervision by Engineer Main Tunnel A total of 97m of Main Tunnel Top Heading was excavated over the reporting period, giving a total length of 2878.5m of Main Tunnel Top Heading excavated to date.
