Summary

During the reporting period 92.2m of Evacuation Tunnel and 132.16m of Main Tunnel Top Heading was excavated, giving a total length of 1714.38m of Evacuation Tunnel and 1677.46m of Main Tunnel Top Heading excavated to date.

Bench excavation continued with 322.3m being excavated on the West Side and 358.8m excavated on the East Side.

Tunnel lining continued with 180m of tunnel completed.

Excavation was down over the reporting period due to poor geological conditions in both the Main and Evacuation Tunnel.

Over the reporting period there was no recovery against the original clause 14 construction schedule. The Main Tunnel is three weeks behind programme and Evacuation nine weeks.

It is expected that progress over the next month will be poor due to the poor geology and the fact that tunnel lining is suspended as there is no lining membrane on site.
