Construction Supervision

Summary

During the reporting period 114.7m of Evacuation Tunnel and 148.8m of Main Tunnel Top Heading was excavated, giving a total length of 1622.3m of Evacuation Tunnel and 1545.3m of Main Tunnel Top Heading excavated to date.

Bench excavation continued with 242.40m being excavated on the West Side and 255.25m excavated on the East Side.

Excavation of vehicle cross passage at St. 1+511.005 was completed.

Tunnel lining continued with 120m of tunnel completed.

Excavation is advancing well and compared to the original schedule shows the Main Tunnel being three weeks behind programme and the Evacuation Tunnel nine weeks. At current rates excavation should be back on programme by early 2003.

Tunnel lining continued and the scheduled progress for the month attained.

Overall a good months production with all activities hitting there required progress rates.

  • Evacuation Tunnel

A total of 114.7m of Evacuation Tunnel was excavated from St. 1+507.5 to St. 1+622.2 over the reporting period. Giving a total length of 1622.2m of tunnel excavated to date. The items carried out during the month can be quantified as follows:

Blasting:7829 kg

Shotcrete 50mm thickness:  1203.5 m2

Vehicle Cross passage St. 1+511.005

A total of 114.7m of Evacuation Tunnel was excavated from St. 1+507.5 to St. 1+622.2 over the reporting period. Giving a total length of 1622.2m of tunnel excavated to date. The items carried out during the month can be quantified as follows:

Blasting:1800 kg

Shotcrete 50mm thickness:  272 m2

SN rockbolts 4m long: 4 No.

  • Main Tunnel

A total of 148.8m of Main Tunnel Top Heading was excavated over the reporting period, giving a total length of 1545.3m of Main Tunnel Top Heading excavated to date.

Face No.7 - 148.8m of Top Heading excavated from St. 1+396.5 to St. 1+545.3

Bench excavation

- 105.25m of bench excavated from St. 0+441.4 to St. 0+546.65, 72.45m from St. 0+619.1 to St. 0+546.65 and 64.7m from St. 0+710 to St. 0+774.7 (West side).

- 111m of bench excavated from St. 0+425 to St. 0+536, 73.55m from St. 0+609.55 to St. 0+536, 54m from St. 0+710 to St. 0+764 and 16.7m from St. 1+097 to St. 1+080.3 (East side).

Concrete for Foundation Beam -247m Fr. St. 0+280 to St. 0+527 West Side

Concrete for Foundation Beam -259.4m Fr. St. 0+282.6 to St. 0+542 East Side. Quantity: 240m3

Concrete for Tunnel Lining of of 120m from St. 7+865.825 to St. 7+745.825
Quantity: 1354m3

Lining: Installation of Mole Drain: 210m

    Installation of Waterproofing Membrane: 196m of Tunnel
