Construction Supervision

Summary

As of November 25, 2002, total length of Main Tunnel Excavation has reached to Sta. 3+540.2 or 1,887.2 meters (including four (4) laybys) from the Tunnel Portal.

During this month, very bad geological condition with unforeseen deformation is experiencing during the excavation of the Main Tunnel. As per instruction from the Engineer, Rock Support Types were changed from Rock Support Type I to II and III, rough length was shortened to less than 2m and also many additional supporting systems were installed to control and overcome the deformation.

Thirty-six (36) niches (9 emergency & call niche and 27 firefighting niches) were completely excavated inside the main tunnel.

Concerning of the foundation beam and concrete lining works at the main tunnel were carried out. As of November 25, 2002, concrete lining construction has reached to Sta. 3+546.5 or 1,893.5 meters from the tunnel portal.

Four (4) Cross Passageways were completely excavated across the evacuation and main tunnels. An approved additional cross passage was also excavated concerning the main and evacuation tunnel.

As of November 25, 2002, total length of ventilation adit excavation reached to sta. 0+175.6 or 1,573.9 meters from the Tunnel Portal.
