Construction Supervision

Summary

During this month, the bad geological condition with unforeseen deformation reported last month is still experienced during the excavation of the Main Tunnel.

Thirty-eight (38) niches (9 emergency & call niche and 29 firefighting niches) were completely excavated inside the main tunnel

Concreting of the foundation beam and concrete lining works at the main tunnel were carried out. As of December 25, 2002, conrete lining construction has reached to 1,338.5m.

As of December 25, 2002 total length of Evacuation Tunnel Excavation reached to Sta. 3+628.1 or 1,975.1 meters from the Evacuation Tunnel.

As of December 25, 2002, total length of Ventilation Adit Excavation reached to Sta. 0+67.3 0r 1,682.2 meters from the Tunnel Portal.

 

Major Events and Issue

Site Inspections

On December 18, 2002, Mr. Tran, the General Director of PMU 85 together with the representatives from JBIC, inspected the Project.

On December 22, 2002, Mr. Nguyen Viet Tien, Vice Minister of MOT inspected the Project Site.

Monthly Meeting

On December 20, 2002, Monthly Meeting between the Employer, the Engineer and the Contractor was held at the Employer’s/Engineer’s North Office.
