Construction Supervision

The Project Package V has progressed satisfactorily during the month of October. The main work of the package has been the continuation of the construction of the Operation Control Center Building in particular the construction of main columns to second floor level, the main cable trenches for the equipment rooms and the progressive installation of the building earthing system. Approval of Contractor drawings continues but there are still outstanding issues.

The need of all equipment within the building are almost fully defined and the location of most auxiliary items specified.

Equipment approval and procurement is continuing. However the outstanding item of approval of the variation order for Lien Chieu Substation may impact on the completion date of Package V. The commencement of the work on the 110kv transmission line is imminent but is awaiting the issuance of the land acquisition, compensation for plants and the mine clarance certification. This documentation is expected to be completed during November 2002

Activities for Coming Months

Permanent Works

Pouring Concrete for Cable Trenches, Columns, First Floor Beams and First Floor Slab will be completed after completion of Backfilling up to First Floor of Substation and Reinforcing Steel installation. And regarding Earthing System, First Floor Slab Grid installation will be completed and in columns from First Floor to Second Floor will be continued.

Main Substation Equipments are under manufacturing and Manufacturing of some items will be started after getting Engineer's Approval. Mechanical and Electrical Equipments for 110/22kV Substation Operation and Control Center Building will be started to order after Engineer's Approval.

Regarding 110kV Overhead Transmission Line, we are waiting for issue Engineer's Access to Site. Cutting Tree and Foundation Work will be started as soon as we will get Engineer's Access to Site and Employer will settle Land Acquisition, Cutting Tree Compensation and Mine Removal Certificate.
