Construction Supervision The National holiday at the beginning of the month was respected as a day of rest for the staff and very bad weather at the end of the month inhibited construction work for some days. However, despite the inhibitions, physical progress has been good. Backfill to under side of ground beam to level at approx -0.07m has been achieved for 75% of the works. Brickwork to foundation walls, external and internal, has been completed during the month. The substantial concrete bases to Generators one and two were concreted into place on 16th September and the larger GIS base was completed on Friday 20th September 2002. The steelwork for the transformer bases 1 and 2 was completed in preparation for concreting in early October. At all stages of the months operations the earthing system has been connected and jointed as appropriate to steel reinforcing, built into structural brickwork and laid across backfill as required. Minor changes to the cabling trenches were approved and implemented. Lean concrete has been laid to the base of the cable trenches. The final detail design for 110kV Transmission Line Tower in accordance with Engineer’s instruction and Foundation was completed and Drawings and Calculations were submitted by 11th September 2002.
