Progress Report > Package III - Electrical Works
Summary from Contractor The Contractor's major work continued to be in overhead works in the tunnel. This month installation of fire rated (FR) cable for tunnel lighting began together with the installation of power supply cables for CCTV cameras. Small wiring inside the VMB was substantially completed and wiring, small power, and lighting in S/S#5 and STP began. Conduit and boxes continue to be installed in VAB as PKIV work progresses. Installation work for area lighting floodlighting towers in NPP and NTP were completed. Conduit was installed in sub-base at NPP and SPP for area lighting circuits. Design work at site continues on the preparation and submittal of installation shop drawings. Detailed design continued in ABB Finland on systems (Fire alarm, communications, radio rebroadcast (RRB), traffic control, lighting control, power distribution control, and main SCADA systems) and on systems integration. This work was well advanced at end of month. Integrated systems testing is scheduled for first week of October at ABB factory in Vaasa, Finland. Routine factory tests were carried out in September on Low voltage switchboards, LV bus duct, DC switchboards. Contractor continued to receive equipment deliveries including road lighting poles, and road lighting luminaires. The Engineer identified the North and South portal plaza areas as critical civil construction areas to enable early installation of main electrical cables and early supply of power to S/S#5 and progressively to other substations. The south portal area duct banks were handed over in early July for PKIII installation of cable supports and to begin cable pulling in August. The north portal area duct banks were handed over on the 5th. August. Despite the Engineer's and civil contractors' efforts to support PKIII schedule, PKIII has failed to start installation of cable brackets inside manholes as of end of September which is a precursor to cable pulling into OCC and S/S#5. PKIII took over maintenance of PKV works as provided for under their contract in May and were to negotiate to sub-contracted this work to HAMADECO. However HAMADECO declined to sign PKIII sub-contract agreement citing unacceptable insurance clauses. These clauses were copied from PKIII contract documents. PKIII will continue with maintenance of PKV works without sub-contractor. Construction Supervision Cable Pulling of Main Tunnel Lighting has been completed on the raceways.
