Progress Report > Package III - Electrical Works
The Contractor's major work remains the installation of cable ladder and luminaries supports, cable ladder, and luminaries in the main tunnel. Additional works include general lighting and small power conduits in Sub station #5 and conduit installations on the underside of south road bridges. Electrical installation work began in Substation No. 5 and continued on foundations for 25 metre high floodlight towers in front of north and south portals. Design work at site has been the preparation and submittal of installation shop drawings. Detailed design continues in ABB Finland on systems (Fire alarm, communications, radio rebroadcast, traffic control, lighting control and main SCADA systems) and systems integration. PKIII
continued to participate in the hand over of sections of walkways
and east side duct banks in the tunnel from the civil contractors.
The hand over allows PKIII (and PKIV) access to install conduit in
the trench under the walkways and for PKIII to pull cables from
OCC to S/S#5 along the east side duct bank. Coordination is still ongoing between PKIII and PKIV. Routine factory tests were carried out in June on medium voltage, low voltage and fire resistant cables, and on inverters, UPS and battery charger systems. The Contractor is beginning to receive equipment delivery from Europe including 22kV GIS switchboards and distribution transformers in June. The Engineer identified the North and South portal plaza areas as critical civil construction areas to enable early installation of main electrical cables and early supply of power for ventilation fan testing. The south portal area duct banks were handed over in early July for PKIII installation of cable supports and to begin cable pulling in August. The north portal area duct banks were handed over on the 5th. August. PKIII took over maintenance of PKV works as provided for under their contract in May and were to negotiate to sub-contracted this work to HAMADECO. However HAMADECO declined to sign PKIII sub-contract agreement citing unacceptable insurance clauses. These clauses were copied from PKIII contract documents. PKIII will continue with maintenance of PKV works without sub-contract. This homepage is presented by the Consultant Team Any further question should be forwarded to Webmaster or Consultant Team
