Summary from Contractor During
the reporting month, the pouring of Concrete Lining up to the
bounadry line coneection to South Side and the Lay-by connection
to EP No.2 was completed. The Contractor dismantled the sliding
form of Lay-by while the standard Form No.2 was scheduled for
moving towards the portal side for the remaining Portal Lining
Concreting (L=10m) including connection to Block No.1 (L=12m).
The outstanding length of 22 meters for 100 percent completion
was scheduled to be completed next month. In the Evacuation Tunnel, the Contractor began the leveling concrete under the side drainage from station 1+740 to 4+760 with a total length of 2,982m. The Ventilation Adit Concrete Lining completed, including Cut and Cover Section together with its connection to the normal section and enlargement section, up to the end of this month totaled to 1,720.57m (Progress 91.15%) Construction Supervision by Engineer Main Tunnel Concreting works The pouring of Class D concrete for the Foundation Beam of the Lining Concrete up to boundary line between North and South Section at Station 5+500, including installation of Mole Drain Pipes on both sides, had been completed since February 2004. Installation of EVA Waterproofing Membrane was also completed following the completion of the foundation beam and mole drain pipes connection between North and South Section. This month of March 2004, the pouring of Concrete Lining up to boundary line connection to South Side and the Lay-by connection to EP No. 2 was completed. The contractor was currently dismantling the sliding form of Lay-by while the Standard Form No. 2 was scheduled for moving towards the Portal side for the remaining Portal Lining Concreting (L=10m) including connection to Block No.1 (L=12m). The outstanding length of 22 meters for 100 percent completion was scheduled to be completed next month. The Concrete Lining for Standard Section of the Main Tunnel completed until the end of this month totaled to 3,494.00 meters. The Concrete Lining works for Lay-by Left Nos. 1, 2, 3, 4, 5 and Lay-by Right Nos. 1, 2, 3,4, 5 in Main Tunnel, including the Lay-by Right No. 6 (Lay-by No. 11) this month totaling 11 lay-bys with a length of 341.00m, were completed. The Main Tunnel Concrete Lining completed up to the end of this month totaled to 3,835.00m (Progress: 99.43%). For cross passages, only the concrete lining for the blocks connected to the Main Tunnel are being executed. All concrete lining completed until the end of this month includes the Pedestrian Cross Passage No. 1~7 (Station 2+000, 2+400, 3+190, 3+688, 4+490, 4+870) and Vehicular Cross Passage No. 1~2 (Station 2+800, 4+100), totaling nine (9) Cross Passage with a length of 29.70m. Main Tunnel Rear Works (Concrete Works)
In the month of March 2004, the concrete works for the cable duct bank with manholes, including the installation of two (2) lines of embedded conduit pipes with a diameter of 110mm each, reached to 3,449.00m up to station 5+118.00.
This month, the pouring of side drain and setting of pre-cast catch basins have been going on. Pouring of side drain, which was started from station 1+670.45, reached to station 5+069.5, totaling a length of 3,399.5m while for pre-cast catch basins, 137nos (to station 5+095) starting from no. 2 to no. 128 have been installed.
The conduit duct bank concreting under the walkway structure has been commenced from station 1+691.55 and reached to station 5+063.12, giving a length of 3,393.57m.
Casting
on-site of side drainage on the west side of the Main Tunnel began at
Station 1+670 and reached to Station 5+096 with a total length of 3,427m.
The setting/installation of pre-cast catch basins were from no. 2 ~
138, totaling 137nos. (to station 5+095).
This month, the pouring of walkway structure was continuing. The base concreting works has been completed from station 1+669.70 to station 5+019.5m, totaling a length of 3,350.0m. Concreting of sidewall was also started on the same station and reached to station 4+945.5 with a total length 3,276.0m. The casting concrete of hydrant pipe saddle inside the walkway structure was also simultaneously executed with a base concrete starting from the same station and reaching to station 4+997.5 a totaling 3,328.0m. On March 13, 2004, a joint site inspection between the Consultant and contractors Package IA, III and IV was held prior to handing over. The west side walkway structure by PKIA to III/IV and east side duct bank for PKIII both Zone F from station 3+703.5 Lay-by No.6 ~ 4+115.5 Lay-by No.7. Although it was agreed that some minor items were needed to correct on both sides, the said location was handed over to E and M for their work's access only.
The installation of 400mm-dia Perforated Concrete Pipe had been started at station 1+709.4 and reached to station 4+152.5 this month with total length of 2,443.1meters including setting/connection of pre-cast concrete manhole nos. 1~13 until station 4+205.15 which is also the connection to VA Exhaust Section and connection of cross drain from PVC mole drain. Since the previous months, the contractor made another group for the installation of 300mm-dia concrete pipes starting at station 4+205.6 to 4+769.5 with a total length 551.0. Main Tunnel Road Works
This month of March 2004, the contractor had no schedule for performing proof rolling test for sub-grade. The approved area from previous month started from station 1+770 until station 3+703 Lay-by No. 6 with a total length of 1,933.0meters.
This month of March 2004, the contractor's joint venture Cienco 6 continues to carry out the spreading of the first and second layer of the base course and its compaction starting from station 1+780 to 3+700 both sides. Prior to the second layer spreading, the Engineer requires the contractor to perform field density test at every 200meters distance per point for quality checking and to follow the requirement of Technical Specifications, Section 02580-Aggregate Sub-base and Base Course. The Field Density Test for the first layer has a good result. This month, the FDT for the second layer was also performed and has a good rate for the compaction test and moisture rating content. The Engineer also instructs to the contractor to conduct Benkelman Test with electro-mechanical measuring device from/conducted by Danang Laboratory for the final second layer of base course, which is scheduled for next month. All testing of base course materials has been performed at Danang Laboratory with the presence of Consultant Engineer and that materials test results were satisfactory passed and accepted by the Engineer.
From the previous month the foundation beam and mole drain were completed. This month, the waterproofing was completed. The Lining Concrete was also completed this month (March 22, 2004) up to connection part to the MT Lay-by No.11 with a total length 138.90m (progress: 100%)
Sewage Pit No. 1 and 2, all Drainages and Concrete Pavement were also completed this month. On 31st of March 2004, the hand-over between PKIA to PKIII and PKIV was concluded. Evacuation Tunnel This month of March 2004, the leveling concrete under the side drainage were continuing from station 1+740 to 4+760 with a total length of 2,982m. The casting of the side drainage was on going. Part no. 1 of Grp.#1 at sta. 1+740 ~ 2+700 was already connected to the Grp.#2 at 2+700 which continues and reached 3+540. Part no. 3 executed by Grp.#1 started at station 4+140 and reached station 4+284. The casting of concrete for the Side Drainage completed this month has a total length of 1,944 meters Ventilation Adit Tunnel
The Concrete Lining for Cut and Cover Section, with Portal Wall, and two (2) blocks of Normal Section of Lining Concrete connected to the Cut and Cover Section were completed with a total length 13.97m from Station 1+738.54 to 1+752.51.
Pouring of Class D concrete for the Foundation Beam was completed this month and was connected to the Cut and Cover Portal Section, which was completed in previous months. The total length completed on the left side was 1,887.62m (station 0-135.11~1+752.51) and 1,877.75m (station 0-135.11~1+752.51) on the right side including Cut and Cover section. Exhaust Shaft Section was completed in previous months. Installation of Mole Drain Pipes, together with filter cement aggregate, on both sides of the tunnel continued simultaneous with the foundation beams. Cutting of Rock bolt heads and installation of geo-textile covers were done on areas with rock bolts. Installation of EVA Waterproofing Membrane for Normal Section has been continuing this month from station 0-055.05 ~ 1+631.3 with a total length of 1,703.36m (included Cut and Cover Section). The installation waterproofing membrane on the Enlargement Section to Clean Air Supply and Exhaust Sections was also completed. Pouring of Concrete Lining was also carried out as per approved design segment. The Engineer carefully checked, during the joint survey with the contractor, the setting of the form for both bulkhead sides and the thickness as per design requirements. The Concrete Lining for Normal Section of the Ventilation Adit completed until the end of this month totaled to 1,640.51meters from block no.17 to 165 (0-055.05 ~ 1+571.49) and including block no.180 to 181 for Cut and Cover Section. Concrete lining from block 16 to 1 (0-055.05 ~ 0-135.11) of the Enlargement Section (Supply Sect.) was also completed, giving a total length of 80.06meters. The Exhaust Shaft Section Lining Concrete consist 5blocks that connects both side of VA and MT was completed. The Ventilation Adit Concrete Lining completed, including Cut and Cover Section together with its connection to the normal section and enlargement section, up to the end of this month totaled to 1,720.57 (Progress: 91.15%).
The installation of 300mm dia. Perforated Concrete Pipe had been started at station 0-066.83 and, this month, reached to station 1+153.0 with total length of 1,219.83meters including setting/connection of pre-cast concrete manhole no.1 at the bottom part of VA intersection of Exhaust Shaft Section.
Construction of foundation together with the first lift 0.60m of the center wall had been started at station 0-055.05 and this month reached to station 1+069.38, totaling 1,091.52meters. In the month of March 2004, the contractor has assembled one more Sliding Form for second lift Center Wall in order to catch-up the delayed progress as per original schedule. The Form No. 2 started at block no.75 (station 0+471.63 ~ 0+495.54) with a length of 23.91m.The Form No.1 second lift Center Wall commenced at the bottom VA station 0-019.05 and reached to 0+364.56 with a length 383.61m. The total length for Form No.1 and 2 is a 407.52meters.
The pouring of concrete for cable duct bank continues according to the revised design and location approved by the Engineer’s from the station 0-055.05 ~ 0-106.49 with total length 51.44m for Enlargement Section. The Standard Section started at station 0-046.05 and reached sta. 1+198.17 giving a length of 1,244.22m, totaling length of 1,295.66meters Major Events and Issue Monthly
