Summary

During the reporting period 134.4m of Evacuation Tunnel and 138.05m of Main Tunnel Top Heading was excavated, giving a total length of 2299.9m of Evacuation Tunnel and 2259.3m of Main Tunnel Top Heading excavated to date.

Bench excavation continued with 120.5m being excavated on the West Side and 156.62m excavated on the East Side.

Tunnel lining continued with 191m of main tunnel completed and 43.77m of layby completed.

Excavation of the Electrostatic Precipitator bench continued, and 71.5m completed.

Overall a disappointing months progress due to poor geological conditions at the start of the month and then the contractor’s implementation of a new survey and drilling method which has slowed progress and increased cycle times from 17-24 hrs in the Main Tunnel.  The Main Tunnel is now 1 week behind schedule and Evacuation Tunnel 5 weeks.
