Summary

During the reporting period 115.5m of Evacuation Tunnel and 86.32m of Main Tunnel Top Heading was excavated, giving a total length of 1918.1m of Evacuation Tunnel and 1808.82m of Main Tunnel Top Heading excavated to date.

Bench excavation continued with 43.19m being excavated on the West Side and 90.9m excavated on the East Side.

Tunnel lining continued with 199.33m of tunnel completed.

Excavation of the Electrostatic Precipitator continued with 62.36m excavated.

Excavation was down over the reporting period due to poor geological conditions in Main Tunnel, the large amount of plant breakdowns and the Tet holiday.

The Main Tunnel has now passed through the poor ground and is now advancing smoothly.

The second lining form commenced operation.

Over the reporting period time was lost against the original clause 14 construction schedule.  The Main Tunnel is five weeks behind programme and Evacuation 10 weeks.

It is predicted that excavation progress will improve over the next reporting period but tunnel lining will again be down as there is no waterproof membrane on site.
