Construction Supervision

Summary from Contractor

The Concrete Lining for Standard Section of the Main Tunnel completed 3,857.00m (100%).

In the Evacuation Tunnel, the casting of concrete for the side drainage completed from Sta. 1+653 to Sta. 5+500 giving a total length of 3,847m, remaining 10 meters (portal cut and cover section).

For the Ventilation Adit, the center wall concrete completed. The second lift center wall commenced at the bottom VA station –071.05 and reached to 1+308.48 with a total length for Form No.1 and 2 is 1,799.65m.

Main Tunnel - Concreting Works

The Main Tunnel Concrete Lining completed with total length of 3857.00m.

MT Rear Works Concreting:

East Side: (Left Side)

Cable Duct Bank:

Completed on 30/4/2004 with total length 3,857.00m.    

Side Drainage/Catch Basin:

Completed on 30/4/2004 with total length 3,857.00m. 

West Side: (Right Side)

Cable Duct Bank:

The conduit duct bank concreting under the walkway structure has completed with total length 3,857.00m. 

Side Drainage/Catch Basin:

Completed on 30/4/2004 with total length 3,857.00m.

Walkway Structure:

 The base concreting works has been completed from station 1+643.00 to station 5+500, totaling a length of 3,857.00m. Concreting of sidewall was started from station 1+643.0 to station 5+500.00 with a total length 3,857.0m (Completed). The casting concrete of hydrant pipe saddle inside the walkway structure was also simultaneously executed with a base concrete starting from the same station and reaching to station 5+500  totaling 3,857.0m (Completed).

On May 20, 2004, a joint site inspection between the Consultant and contractors Package IA, III and IV was held prior to handing over. The west side walkway structure was tranfered by PKIA to III/IV and east side duct bank to PKIII both Zone I and J1 from station 4+910 to Station 5+470.

Main Drainage:

Completed on 05/7/04 with total length of  3,857.00m.

MT Road Works:

Sub-grade:

Completed on 09/7/04 with total length of 3,857.00m.

Base Course:

The contractor Cienco 6 continues to carry out the spreading of the first and second layers of the base course and its compaction starting from station 1+780 to 5+500 of both sides. Prior to the second layer spreading, the Engineer requires the contractor to perform field density test at every 200meters distance per point for quality checking and to follow the requirement of Technical Specifications, Section 02580-Aggregate Sub-base and Base Course. The Field Density Test for the first layer has a good result. The FDT for the second layer was also performed and has a good rate for the compaction test and moisture rating content. The Engineer also instructs  the contractor to conduct Benkelman Test with electro-mechanical measuring device from/conducted by Danang Laboratory for the final second layer of base course.

All testing of base course materials has been performed at Danang Laboratory with the presence of Consultant Engineer and that materials test results were satisfactorily passed and accepted by the Engineer. Completing with total length of 3,857.00m.

Pavement works

West side:(Right side)

The concrete pavement for standard section of the Main tunnel, was started from station 1+643.00 to station 5+500 totaling 3,857.00m(Completed). The concrete paverment works for Lay-by Right side No. 2,4,6,8,9,11 with a length of 174 metters were completed.

East side: (Left side)

The concrete pavement for standard section of the Main tunnel, was started from station 1+643.0 to station 5+500.00 totaling 3,857.00m(Completed). The concrete pavement works for Lay-by Left side No.1,3,5 7,10 with a length of 145 metters were completed.

Painting works.

East side(left side)

was started from station 1+643.0 to station 5+500, with total length of 3.857.0m (Completed).

Wast side (Right side)

was started from station 1+643.0 to station 5+500 completed upper part, the walkway wall part the remaining.

Hand rail works.

The installation of hand rail had been started at station 5+100 to station 5+500 with total length of 400.00m (Progress 11%).

Electrostatic Precipitator No. 2

Completed and handed over to PKIII& PKIV on Mar 31,2004

Evacuation Tunnel

The casting of concrete for the Side Drainage completed from Sta:1+653 – Sta:5+500 giving a  total length of 3,847m, remaining 10 meters ( Portal cut and cover section).

Side drainage slab cover: The casting of the side drainage slab cover was completed from station 1+653.00 to station 5+500.00 with total length of 3,847.00m. The remaining L=10m(Portal cut and cover section). The concrete linning for cut and cover section finished on 25/8/04.

ET Road works:

Subgrade: was started from station:4+100.0 to 5+500.0 with totaling of 1400.0m(Progress 36%).

Cross Passage:

The casting of concrete for cross passage doors  No.1,2,4,5,7,8,9 completed.

North portal plaza

The contractor had been started excavating to construct  for pavement of plaza area.

The cut and cover section, starting  pouring concrete for a the returning wall to construction slope protection

Ventilation Adit Tunnel

Concreting Works:

Cut and Cover Section / Connection Lining Concrete at Portal:

The Concrete Lining for Cut and Cover Section, with Portal Wall, and two (2) blocks of Normal Section of Lining Concrete connecting to the Cut and Cover Section were completed with a total length of 13.97m from Station 1+738.54 to 1+752.51.

Lining Concrete:

The Ventilation Adit Concrete Lining completed on Apr 21,2004, including Cut and Cover Section together with its connection to the normal section and enlargement section, totaled to 1,887.62m (Completed).

Rear Works:

Main Drainage:

The installation of 300mm dia. Perforated Concrete Pipe had been started at station -066.83 to station 1+752.51 with total length of 1,819.34 m including setting/connection of pre-cast concrete manhole No.1 at the bottom part of VA intersection of Exhaust Shaft Section.

Center Wall Concrete:

Construction of foundation together with the first lift 0.60m of the center wall had been started at station 0-071.05 to station 1+752.51, totaling 1,823.56m (Completed).

The second lift Center Wall commenced at the bottom VA station -071.05 and reached to 1+308.48, and from station 1+332.39 to station 1+752.51 with a total length for Form No.1 and 2 is  1,799.65m(Progress 97%).

Cable Duct Bank: (Completed on Apr 29,04).

Subgrade of Road:

The contractor carried out the spreading of the Subgrade and its compaction starting from Station – 71.05 to 1+200.89 of Right side with total length  of 1,271.94m, of left side from Station –71.05 to Station 1+752.51 with total length of 1,823.56m.

Base – course of Road:

Starting from Station - 71.05 to 1+200.89 of Right side with Total length of 1,277.94m, Left side from Station – 77.05 to Station 1+752.42  total length of 1,829.56m.

Pavement works:

The contractor carried out pouring concrete pavement starting from station 0-77.05 – 0+874.12, and from station 0+913.97 to station 1+188.93 of Right side with totaling of 1225.71m, Left side from Station –77.05 to to Station 0+882.4, and from station 1+069.38 to station 1+141.11 with total length of 1,030.56m.
