Progress Report > Package III - Electrical Works
The Contractor continued with marking (setting out) of tunnel walls began in February and continues from north and south ends of the tunnel. This is for the installation of overhead equipment including cable ladder, tunnel lighting, CCTV, traffic signs, radio antenna, fire detection sensor and other devices. Marking and installation of anchor bolts for installation of HDPE conduit supports under the tunnel walkway continues. Electrical conduit works installations in outside areas at the South Toll Plaza building continues. Most underground conduit work/duct banks have been installed at NTP. The civil works at STP proceeds at very slow pace. A small amount of conduit and earth wire has been installed at the Ventilation Adit Building. Conduit works that should have been installed by PKIII in the Vehicle Maintenance building (VMB) has not yet been started. Design work at site has been the preparation and submittal of installation shop drawings. Detailed design continues in ABB Finland on systems (Fire alarm, communications, radio rebroadcast, traffic control, lighting control and main SCADA systems) and systems integration. PKIII continues to participate in the hand over of sections of walkways in the tunnel from the civil contractors. The hand over allows PKIII (and PKIV) access to install conduit in the trench under the walkways. This conduit setting out work was scheduled to start 2 January, 2004 but because of lack of materials began in February. Coordination is still ongoing between PKIII and PKIV for space, ventilation and cableway requirements at substations in the Electrostatic Precipitator areas (S/S 1, 2 and 4) and at the Ventilation Adit Building (S/S 6), S/S 3 at adit fresh air discharge near tunnel. Generally most significant issues have been resolved between PKIII and PKIV in those areas. The Contractor submitted final layout plans for equipment and in floor ducts at the end of February. These were approved and passed on to PKIV for shop drawing development by in the first half of March. PKIV will be doing the physical construction of substations in those areas. The substation layout for construction at the north portal plaza, S/S#5, has been handed over to PK1A. PK1A is responsible for construction of that substation. The Engineer identified the North and South portal plaza areas as critical civil construction areas to enable early installation of main electrical cables and early supply of power for ventilation fan testing. The civil contractors began work in early March (PK1B) and late March (PK1A) in those areas.
