The
construction of a tunnel across Viet Nam's longest pass is on track to
meet a May 19, 2005 deadline with its northern part to be completed on
Nov. 30, said project executives.
The
Hazama-Cienco 6 contractor, a joint venture with Japan, said so far more
than 99 percent of the project has been completed despite numerous
difficulties during the construction emerging from the Hai Van pass's
high, rough position and harsh climate.
The
company has applied several inventions to save billions of Vietnamese
dong for the ODA-funded project and received the Government's award.
The
training work for the local project managers and maintainance workers
has also made progress, said the Hazama-Cienco 6 source.
The
Japanese Hazama company has tranferred technology for the project and
the tunnel operation and maintenance to its local partner - the Cienco 6
company.
