A
Da Nang resident has built a resort that resembles a Vietnamese
traditional village at the foot of Hai Van Pass in Lien Chieu District,
Da Nang City.
The
6-hectare Suoi Luong Resort, which is only 10km from downtown Da Nang,
lies against the slopes of Hai Van Mountain and looks down on Lien Chieu
Bay.
The
resort, which showcases Viet Nam’s ethnic cultures, has a variety of
buildings in the styles of different cities and ethnic groups in the
country.
Among
the structures are the houses of the Quang Nam and Hue people, the Guol
house of the Ko Tu ethnic group, and the timber-floored residences of
the Muong, Dao, Tay, Nung and Mong groups of the northern highlands.
There
is also a typical communal house on stilts, often known as a long house,
the residence of the ethnic people in the Central Highlands.
"We
want to develop this area by the Suoi Luong (Luong Brook) into a tourist
park at a place the emperors of the Nguyen Dynasty (1802-1945) called De
Nhat Hung Quan (the most beautiful place), said Nguyen Trung Dan, the
owner of Suoi Luong Resort.
The
resort also houses a Cham tower more than seven metres high, built by Le
Van Chinh, an expert in Cham civilisation.
Chinh
used the techniques adopted by the Cham people centuries ago, assembling
bricks without mortar.
Suoi
Luong Resort also has an indoor concert stage, cinema, shops selling
souvenirs and handicrafts made from villages in Quang Ngai, game
parlours, and a library.
The
resort has places of worship and prayer, including a pagoda for
Buddhists and a chapel for Christians.
Visitors
can receive instruction in the different methods of meditation used by
Buddist masters for centuries.
The
resort owner has invested VND14 billion (US$900,000) for the first stage
of the project, which officially opened last week.
Suoi
Luong, which is located only 300m from the southern entrance of the Hai
Van Pass Tunnel, will contribute to the socio-economic development of Da
Nang, said Tran Van Minh, deputy chairman of Da Nang People’s
Committee.
"This
resort, which is an example of the healthy and liberal investment
environment of Da Nang, will also provide valuable tourism products and
services," said Minh during the opening ceremony.
Dan
said 12 villas to provide accommodation for visitors who want a longer
stay at the resort will be completed by the end of June. — VNS
